A free Code Club designed to inspire young people interested in computer programming will be officially launched at Aldridge Library on Friday 4 March.

Run by Library staff and volunteers with computing backgrounds it has been established to help children aged 9-11years old learn to code weekly between 4 – 5 pm on Friday’s.

Starting from scratch

Step-by-step projects help young people to develop programming language skills like Scratch which are then used to create computer games, animations and websites.

Developed as a nationwide network of volunteer-led free Code Clubs, the aim of the initiative is to build up coding skills so that the young people can learn new ways to analyse and solve problems. Creative approaches to thinking around problems in turn enhance vocational skills that can be used in other areas of life in later learning.

Clubbing together
