Christmas themed window displays have been brightening up Bloxwich for shoppers after retailers signed up to a challenge set them by Walsall Council’s district centre management team.
Eighteen shops entered the competition which was linked in to this year’s Sparkle into a Bloxwich Christmas celebrations.
Winners were Jeneve Bridal Wear in High Street, with joint second place going to Sweet & Fancy and Hearts and Flowers while Life Charity Shop claimed third place.
Jeneve Bridal Wear, which has been based in Bloxwich for ten years, impressed the judges with their display which used characters linked to Christmas to create a wedding scene. It featured two snowmen as the bride and groom and a reindeer as the vicar.
Councillor Adrian Andrew, Walsall Council cabinet member for regeneration, said: “The Sparkle into a Bloxwich Christmas event kicked off the festive celebrations across our district centres and was a great success.
“I understand from officers the numbers visiting Bloxwich on 26 November were significantly higher than a normal Saturday and I’m delighted by the response to the celebrations. Additionally I’m sure a number of people also took the opportunity to have a look around the town and see what it has to offer.
“It was great that so many retailers embraced the shop window display competition and congratulations to the winners.”
Meanwhile the Bloxwich Christmas trail continues until Thursday 22 December.
Entry forms are available from Bookmark Bloxwich (Bloxwich Library, Elmore Row) or Co-op Travel.
