CCTV still of suspected Birchills homophobic assault released

Police in Walsall are releasing CCTV images of five men they want to speak to in relation to an homophobic assault.

The attack took place at around 2.30am on Saturday 26 November at the Lion Bar and Club, Birchills Street, Birchills.

The men made homophobic comments to the 20 year-old male victim before one punched several times. The offenders made off on Birchills Street in the direction of Reedswood.

The victim was left with swelling to his right eye.

CCTV cameras caught some of the people suspected of being involved, and officers are now hoping that the images prompt the public to help with the enquiry.

Officers are also releasing the descriptions of two of the suspects.

The first is described as a white male, around 25 years-old, approximately five feet nine inches tall, with a slim build and blond hair. At the time he was wearing a dark jacket

The second is described as a white male, around 30 years-old, approximately five feet nine inches tall, with a slim build and brown hair.
