Police in Walsall are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision that has closed a main road near to the M6 this evening.
Officers were called to Bloxwich Lane at 4.35pm today (Tuesday 22 November) after a car and a pedestrian had been involved in a collision near to the traffic junction with Churchill Road.
The female pedestrian, aged 30, was taken to hospital with what is initially believed to be serious head injuries.
The car involved failed to stop at the scene.
Sergeant Lee Nicholls, from West Midlands Police traffic department, said: “We urge anyone who was in the area and saw the car involved to contact police to help our investigation.
“As the inquiry is in its very early stages we have little information, other than we believe it to be a small red car.
“However, we do know that the pedestrian has suffered what appears to be a serious injury and she remains in hospital receiving treatment this evening.
“We advise motorists in the area to try and avoid Bloxwich Lane for the time being as the road remains closed whilst we carry out enquiries.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Walsall Police on 0345 113 5000.
