Brown bin

Brown bin service suspended over Christmas

Brown binWalsall Council’s garden waste collection ( brown bin) service will be suspended a period of 8 weeks from Friday December 16 2011 until Monday 13 February 2012.

This means that some residents will receive their last green waste collection on the 5 December.

During this time there will be  a weekly recycling bin collection (green bin) to allow residents to recycle additional items such as wrapping paper, cardboard, cards, bottles and cans.

Residents are reminded not to dispose of unwanted electrical items in recycling bins, please take them to Household Waste Recycling Centres (tips) at Fryers  Road Bloxwich or Merchants Way Aldridge.

Councillor Tom Ansell, cabinet member for environment at Walsall Council, said: “The amount of garden waste drastically reduces during the winter so the service is being suspended for that reason.

“People can still take their garden waste to the household waste recycling centres over this period and there will also be a weekly recycling bin collection to cater for additional wrapping paper, cardboard, cards, bottles and cans.”
