A special illustrated talk at Walsall Museum this November explores the eye-catching posters and marketing material created by local firm the Walsall Lithographic Co for well-known firms and businesses across the country.
The talk will focus on advertising material created by the printing firm for companies in the West Midlands region, including iconic imagery created for firms such as Cadbury’s Chocolate, HP Sauce and Kunzle cakes. There will also be a look at some of the striking posters created for firms further afield, including Quaker Oats and Star Lager of Nigeria.
Walsall Museum’s Community History Curator, Jennifer Thomson, will be delivering the talk, which is based around the Museum’s exceptional collection of advertising material produced by the Walsall Lithographic Co and which was acquired by the Museum a couple of years ago, just before the firm’s former premises were demolished.
The talk, entitled ‘Regional Firms in Historic Advertising’, takes place on Tuesday 8 November at 2pm. The talk is free of charge but places are limited so advance booking is essential, please contact the Museum on 01922 653116 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place.
This is part of a regular series of public talks on local history, costume history and related subjects. Details of our other talks can be obtained by contacting Walsall Museum on 01922 653116.
