Eight drivers were fined for speeding during a traffic operation carried out by Walsall Police’s Beechdale Neighbourhood Team yesterday (Monday) in conjunction with force traffic following concerns raised by local people.
Following complaints, officers had data strips placed during the month of September which highlighted speeds of up to 90 mph in Stephenson Avenue, Cavendish Gardens and Reedswood Way in Bloxwich.
Officers stopped a total of 17 drivers over a three hour period at the three sites and of those eight drivers were issued with fixed penalty tickets for excess speed, one driver was issued a fixed penalty for no road tax and one vehicle was seized for no insurance.
Sgt Christopher Jones, based at Bloxwich police station, said: “This is the second operation conducted following concerns raised, with another planned for November.
“Whilst conducting the operation, officers were approached by members of the public who welcomed the efforts of the police in combating speeding which is a form of anti social behaviour.”
Anyone with information about traffic issues in their area should contact their local policing team which can be found at www.walsallpolice.org.uk or call 0345 113 5000 and ask for Walsall Police.
