Long before the likes of John Cena and Rey Mysterio got into the ring, a nation was gripped by another pair of wrestling rivals.
Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks captivated audiences of millions every Saturday afternoon between 1976 and 1988 and their story is being told through a new comedy drama being staged in Leamore.
The Foundry Group theatre company show will chronicle the bizarre world of the captivating pair while exploring the sports phenomenon of heavyweight wrestling with its show at Forest Arts Centre on Wednesday 2 November.
Julie Simmonds, Walsall Council programming and operations officer, said: “This show will bring back memories for so many people of a Saturday afternoon spent shouting at the television to spur on one of these two larger than life characters.
“There will be a mixture of laughter and high drama as we get a glimpse into the extraordinary world of wrestling – all of which adds up to an unforgettable show.”
Big Daddy V Giant Haystacks is suitable for people aged 12 plus.

The show starts at 7.30pm.
